The Gothic Quarter is one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in the city. Markets full of flavours and fragrances, the Jewish quarter, the Cathedral of Barcelona, medieval buildings and roman ruins offer us a mix between the past and modern times. To get to know this area you have to explore three areas that offer a different perspective of the city. On one hand, el Raval where you can visit the Boqueria market, the MACBA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona) o a church that has been converted into one of the best libraries in Barcelona. On the other hand, the Gothic Quarter a maze of alley ways where you can find the old Jewish quarter, the Cathedral of Barcelona, a part of the original roman wall in between other historical gems. And to finish this experience the Born area, a trendy area with nice restaurants and little boutiques. Walking through the streets you can enter workshops where artisans have recuperated the old spaces of the medeival artesans that used to gathered together in different guilds. Amazing to know that this area was formed by little channels of water that connected with bridges to cross from one side to the other, nowadays they have disappeared.
